It is 1am in the morning and I just woke up and a smile came on my face as I realized I am 79 years old today. So I got up to write my goals to accomplish by my 80th birthday.
• Continue to build my relationships with family and friends.
• Lose 40 pounds and increase my dopamine and receptors for a healthy body.
• Publish my book I’m Not Stupit, I’m Dyslexic.
• Continue marketing Looking Through a Keyhole.
• Launch my web site on “How To Redefine Yourself.”
• Conduct speaking engagements and workshops on “How To Redefine Yourself: The key to a Fulfilling and Meaningful Life.”
• Go shopping.
Did you know that statistics show that people who write their goals down have a 80% higher accomplishment rate than those who do not record them.

Today I’m off to a speaking engagement at The Fountains At Cedar Parke,an independent living facility. Irene, my Seeing Eye guide dog is so cooperative. She lays next to the podium, looking pretty, sometimes nods off, until she hears her name and then looks up at me with her soulful eyes. At the end of the Q & A segment, I take the harness off Irene and let the seniors pet her. She knows her role and gets excited as the harness comes off, she heads toward the nearest person. Her tail wags as she sits in front of each person and lets them pet her. She plays the room. When she is finished and I put the harness on her, she is happy to go back to work taking care of me. We are a team. Everyone falls in love with Irene. Too see Irene in a you tube video go to www.juliaspencer.net

I was invited to speak to the medical students at Brown University. What a revelation. The topic was my genetic eye disease Retinitis Pigmatosa and my doctor/patient relationship from back in early 2000 when the disease was rapidly progressing. I had to tell them, “I didn’t have a doctor/patient relationship.” As my eye doctor told me back then,( not my present eye doctor, )”There’s nothing I can do for you. You’re like a dying man asking for help. There is no help for you.” In other words stop bothering me. I did, I left him. To be continued. Sorry, I have to get back to work.

I awoke this morning having a conversation with God, the first one in forty year. I didn’t see that coming. I wrote it down. I guess I’m back to writing my book, “Losing God,” which I put off to work on my book, “I’m not stupid, I’m Dyslexic.” They are competing with each other. Well, tell me, how did your morning start out? Anything unexpected? Don’t you just love when life throws you a curve ball.

Looking forward to tomorrow night’s speaking engagement at Keswick Pines in Whiting, NJ. Will be discussing my book Looking Through A Keyhole. It’s my memoir about my struggle to keep my independence while losing my sight from an inherited eye disease called Retinitis Pigmatosa. I will be sharing stories about Irene, my Seeing Eye guide dog. One story is about how Irene joins Ralph for yoga practice.
